Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What geographical area does the SSETFD cover?
A: All of the United States, go to http://eetfi.esa.int/ for European Countries.

Q: What labs are eligible to participate?
A: Any lab located in the USA, commercial, civil, government, or university laboratory that can accommodate a full sized spacecraft for at least one environmental test.

Q: How do I get my lab’s facilities added to the SSETFD?
A: Go to the home page and click on “how to join” at the top of the page.

Q:  Who has access to the SSETFD website and the database?
A: Access is not restricted to anyone wishing to view the data, however, entry of new data or revisions to the existing data, is password protected.  Each lab manager or his (her) designee has access to their section of the database via a password.

Q: Who do I need to go to in my company to get approval to join the SSETFD?
A: The “terms of use” needs to be reviewed and accepted by management, and proprietary and ITAR requirements met.  In some situations, the lab’s customer(s) approval may be required as well. J. M. Snyder from The Aerospace Corp. presented a paper on the SSETFD at the 23rd Aerospace Testing Seminar (ATS) which can be made available for use to facilitate the approval process.  Email a request for this material to james.m.snyder@aero.org .

Q: How do I find a specific facility?
A: Select the test environment of interest from the menu on the right-hand side of the home page. The environment specific search tool then enables you to choose parameters from a list and to enter corresponding values. After entering the search criteria into the fields of interest, click on search. The search results will be filtered by the data entered. Hitting the search button on an empty form will result in a list containing all facilities of the selected environment type.
